What is your dress code?
No shorts, t-shirts, or anything disreputable. You can never be overdressed. Gentleman must remove hats.
Do you accept reservations?
Yes. In the front bar, we will accept reservations before 9:00 on Friday and Saturday nights. We recommend them for all parties of 6 or more.
What goes on in the back room? How do I get in?
The back room is available by RESERVATION ONLY Friday and Saturday nights. As long as there is not a private party, we accept reservations on a first come, first serve basis.
If you are interested in hosting a private party, or a work related event, please give us a call.
As to what goes on back there, well, you'll have to see for yourself.
Where do those cherries come from?
Our cherries are imported from Italy, and unlike those ubiquitous flourescent monstrosities, they are actually worth eating. And quite delectable!
What's so special about the ice cubes?
Our ice cubes are made in a special machine to be 1.25" square. Only three will fit in a standard tumbler. Most ice is frozen at 26 degrees Fahrenheit, but ours is frozen at -30 degrees, so that they stay cold longer, and dilute your cocktail less.
What was the building before it was the VTR?
Originally, it was a barber shop in the front, and a blacksmith shop in the back. Later, it was a bar, then a speakeasy, then a series of bars again, with various levels of repute.
The bullet holes in the ceiling are real. And for the most part, the ghosts are gone.
Who is the owner of the bar?
Our owner is a man of mystery. After escaping from an unnamed country in Eastern Europe, he travelled to South America. Gradually, he made a name for himself in the tango bars of Buenos Aires, but when a price was put on his head by a jealous husband, he stowed away in the hold of a freighter he believed was headed to Marseilles. The ship finally put in at the Port of Cleveland. The gritty ambiance of the rusting city appealed to his aesthetic sense, and he decided to realize a long-cherished dream and open up an authentic cocktail lounge.
We've been here ever since.
Will you make "chocolate-tinis"?
We will, but we die a little bit every time.
How about "apple-tinis"?
